Thulakot Hill Trek

Apart from regular trekking routes around Pokhara city, Thulakot  Hill Trek is a unique and peaceful trek. This trekking route is not covered by hordes of trekkers and you get ample chances to meet local people. And enjoy the Himalayas ranges, and explore the way of life of people. Thulakot is situated at the eastern hill of central Pokhara, which is a vantage point of massive Himalaya peaks like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Lamajung Himal, and Fishtail.

The area where you may appreciate the scenery and vistas is Thulakot Hill in Pokhara. All types of travelers go to Pokhara in Nepal, but Sarangkot, Peace Stupa, and other attractions are always the highlights. Pokhara is renowned for being the starting point for long hikes, including those to Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal, Upper Mustang, Khopra Danda, Ghorepani Poon Hill, and numerous more well-known trekking routes.

The Pokhara Thulakot hill is for those types of tourists who are on a tight schedule yet still want to view the Himalayas. Thulakot is not just for viewing the Himalayas; it’s also a place to take in the landscape and learn about Nepalese mountain culture. After a 30-minute drive from Pokhara, the Thulakot hill walk begins from Bijayapur. You will typically encounter numerous tourists in other locations, but there are fewer people here. Amazing scenery can be seen all the way to Thulakot and the entire Pokhara valley. You will be in awe when you stand in front of the Annapurna Ranges, Lamjung, Manaslu, and of course, Mt. Fishtail once you arrive close to the Thulakot hill.

Another feature on this journey is the Begnas Lake, which we can see from the summit of Thulakot and where the hike will terminate. The five-hour climb up Thulakot Hill trek offers views of the forest, villages, farms, beauty, way of life, lakes, and mountains. A solo tour and a group day hike are offered on this excursion, which departs daily from Pokhara. You could be concerned about the trails, but as usual, Nepali Flat refers to a location that is flat with occasional ups and downs. The trail is not difficult, so even kids can enjoy this trek.

Thulakot  Hill Trek is also known as Prince Charles hill since, during a journey in 1980, Prince Charles from the UK tented here. This hike offers a variety of village, forest, beauty, agricultural, lifestyle, lakes, and mountain experiences because it passes close to or through several local settlements.

Inside Nepal, there were distinct, independent states/countries before 1771. When security personnel (Army) stayed with the ford, the hills were known as Kot in Nepal. As a result, you will understand that Thula means big and that the kot end of this hill denotes a former ford.

Day 01: Drive to Bijayapur Army Camp and 5 hours Trek

A professional tourist guide comes to your hotel in Pokhara to receive you in a privately hired car and take a 30-minute ride to reach Bijayapur. Our trek begins from Bijayapur Military Barrack and we enter the village through the canal way. Bijayapur village is spotted with beautiful houses amid beautiful paddy terraces on flat land. After 20 minute walk inside the village with exchanging greetings with local people, we follow the uphill trail. We walk inside of a small forest and reach a village, now we can observe the hill styles houses and animal sheds. The stone roof houses and greenery attract us. The more we ascend the more spectacular view of Pokhara valley, Begnas Lake, and Fewa Lake we admire. We continue walking via the lower ridge of the forest, curving east just above the village settlements with a sweeping view of Khaste lake until we reach Kannai Danda. Kannai Dada is a vantage point for Pokhara city and other villages and green hills. We admire the incredible view of Bijayapur Khola and Seti River from the Kannai Dada summit. Then we take a left curve and follow the slightly straight road towards Kalikasthan passing alongside Siddhipur and Bimirapani village on the way. After having lunch in a restaurant in Kalikasthan, we walk upward a hilly road for one hour. Situated inside the forest, Thulakot hill provides an enchanting view of Annapurna Range, Machhapurchhre Range, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu Mountain. We also admire the beautiful aerial view of Pokhara valley and lakes like Phewa Lake and Kamal Lake of Pokhara and Begnas Lake. After enjoying jaw-dropping scenery and photo shooting we walk downhill via Syangphudi waterfall and Phera Homestay and finally arrive at Begnas Lake. We roam around Begnas Lake, beat the fatigue of trekking, and finally take a drive back to Hotel in Pokhara.
