01: Kathmandu: Panauti and Bhaktapur Day Trip

After breakfast a professional tourist guide comes to your hotel with a private tourist van to pick you up. We drive alongside of Tribhuvan International Airport following Kathmandu-Bhaktapur road. We will drive beyond hill of Saga, where stands a giant statue of Lord Shiva. After Saga we enter to Banepa valley and take right turn to reach historical city Panauti. Panauti is located in the lap of hill extending beautiful settlements and farming terraces to larger area. This is hub of agriculture production, backstopping demand of Kathmandu valley. This town is market places of nearby villages with government offices. We will visit Panauti Community Homestay run by local women group, situates in northeast side of main town.Panauti is chock-a-block city with more than 40 temples dedicated to different god and goddess. We will visit famous Indreswor Mahadev temple located at the Confluence of Roshi and Punyawati rives just below the pine forest, which is one of the tallest temples in Nepal built in pagoda style and dedicated to Lord Shiva and Indra. Each storey of three storeys temple is dedicated to heavens, the sky, and the earth respectively. Nearby temple there is a stone that is believed to be transformed form of angel who was seduced by Lord Indra, the king of heaven. Then we visit Panauti Durbar Square to explore the 15th century arts and architecture, and wooden craft.After lunch we drive back to Bhaktapur Durbar Square where we will observe the medieval period palaces, courts, gates, and temples built by Malla kings of Nepal during 15 to 17th century. Visit 55 windows palace made by king Bupitindra Mall, admire its wooden craving and architecture. This palace is oldest structure on th complex of Bhaktapur Durbar Square .Then we will visit Nyatpole temple, the highest pagoda style temple with giants animal sculpture on both sides of entrance stairs. Additionally we visit, Taleju Temple, Peacock window and do some souvenir shopping, watch typical Newar people with traditional attire. Throughout the year Bhaktapur Durbar Square remains in festive mood with feast and festivals.
