When we look for trekking around Kathmandu, everybody recommend Nagarkot as it most famous trekking route. Nagarkot lies in historical Bhaktapur district at elevation of 2200m from sea level. Surrounded by beautiful pine forest, situated on the top of hill, Nagarkot is best destination for holiday which remains jam packed throughout a year by local and international visitors. Popular for Himalaya view, Sunrise and Sunset, walking inside forest, passing by beautiful hamlets of hill area and farming terraces make your trek worth and pleasant.
Nagarkot- Dhulikhel Trek is comprised of two beautiful hill station, the popular tourist and holiday spots Nagarkot and Dhulikhel. It takes approximately 4 to 5 hours to reach Dhulikhel from Nagarkot. The trails goes uphill for half an hour via pine forest with enchanting view of Himalaya ranges to the north and aerial view beautiful villages, farming lands on the both bottoms of hill and view of Kathmandu valley to south-west side.
A day Nagarkot-Dhulikhel trek starts early morning from your hotel in Kathmandu. A professional trek guide from Real Adventure comes to your hotel to pick up you. Either you have early breakfast or you can have breakfast in Nagarkot with enchanting views and fresh morning breezes coming from mountains. After one and half hour drive via Bhaktapur we reach to sunny Nagarkot, showered by sun rays. Upon arriving Nagarkot we can climb up to Nagarkot View tower and enjoy the alluring view of Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal Range, Langtang, Jugal Range, Rolwaling Range, Everest Range and Numbur Range. If weather is clear we can see spectacular view of 8000m above six mountains peaks.
We descend down to Nagarkot and follow the route towards north east side throughout pine forest with glimpse of birds and wild animals. Then we follow downhill trail towards Dulagaun alongside of village settlements, temples and school. Then we cross small streams and enter to Kavrepalanchock district on the edge of Devitar village, following the trail amid of farming terraces until we reach to Nala. Most of the time the trail goes downhill and it is relatively easy and smooth and enriched by smiles and greetings of local people.
Now trail curves towards Tukucha Nala from where the trail goes downhill via farming terraces and Ugrachandi village, and finally we reach to Dhulikhel passing Deurali and Chipleti village. 3-4 hours walk is a good chance to observe the lifestyle of rural people who are engaged in farming, livestock and small scale business. .
We will have lunch in Dhulikhel, the hub of hotels and resorts with panoramic view of Himalayan peaks. After lunch walk around Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel is the Headquarter of Kavrepalanchok district mainly inhabited by Newari people with great spectacle of traditional cultures and religious value. Dhulikhel has ancient buildings and brick paved walking trails, and it preserves glory of ancient arts and architecture.
After sightseeing of Dhulikhel bazaar, a tourist van picks us up and transfers to hotel in Kathmandu via Banepa-Bhkatapur road.
