Chandragiri trek is the western bordering hill which is very close distance from Kathmandu valley. Chandragiri hill has religious and historical significance, and it provides enchanting natural beauties. During winter this place is covered by snow and looks like Himalaya peaks. This is very virgin land for trekking as it is recently opened for trekking. Even in short distance of Kathmandu valley, this trekking trail is isolated and provides us experience of real country side.
Historically it is said that the Great King Prithivi Narayan Shah saw beautiful Kathmandu valley from the top of Chandragiri and developed the strategy to conquer three states of Kathmandu namely: Kantipur, Patan, and Bhadgaun. Religiously, on the top of Chandragiri there is a famous Hindu temple called Bhaleswor. It is believed that Baleswor temple is created out of forehead of Lord Shiva’ s consort Satidevi who was being carried by Lord Shiva after her suicidal death. It is believed that people who visit Bhaleswor temple fulfill their wishes. This temple was reachable only after 3-4 hours walking from famous Hindu Temple Matathirtha located on the bottom of Chandragiri hill, but now it is accessible by Cable Car.
Interestingly after the cable car connection, trekking to Chandragiri hill has been popular and people love to trek up in a very peaceful and soothing atmosphere to relax their mind and rejuvenate. Away from robotic and hectic city life, there is Chandragiri hill trekking to refresh you. Chandragiri hill trekking is a wonderful chance to observe the semi-urban life of people at the edge of Kathmandu, panoramic view of mountains ranges from Annapurna to west and Mt.Everest to the east, and breathtaking view of Kathmandu valley.
