Major Attractions of the Chitwan National Park Tour
Elephant Riding in Chitwan National Park
Sauraha Chitwan is the most popular place for elephant riding in Nepal. Elephant riding is enjoyed by most tourists. It is enjoyable and is the safest way to do a jungle safari. Riding on an elephant’s back and observing the wildlife, birds, and lush jungles is an amazing feeling.
You can see wild animals like the One-horned Rhinoceros and the Bengal Tigers from so close during elephant riding. Entering the quiet jungles and amazing grasslands in Chitwan National park riding on an elephant’s back is exciting.
During the Elephant ride, four people can ride at a time on the high seat on an elephant’s back. Elephant safari isn’t a highly comfortable ride but is a unique experience. Elephant riding safari is generally one to one and a half hours. In that interval, you can spot several wildlife and birds.
People in Chitwan, of them, own an elephant. Few hire an elephant to take their guests for a ride. Elephant riding is a must once you are in Chitwan. However, if you are an animal lover and don’t want to ride an elephant, there are multiple options available for jungle safari.
Jeep Safari and Nature Walk
To those who want to opt for something other than an Elephant ride, Chitwan National park allows jeep riding and nature walks. Both these tours are guided tours. You cannot go inside the national park alone. You should go with experienced guides.
Jeep safari is fun. If you have a big group, Jeep safari is the best option. A jeep has a huge capacity than an elephant ride has. The driver will drive you into the dense forests. You will see the tall grasses. If you are lucky, you will spot beautiful animals. Chitwan is popular for one-horned Rhinos. You can spot them during the ride.
Nature walk means you will be walking inside the national park boundaries and observing the forests and wildlife. Isn’t it exciting? Walking inside the national park with a pounding heart and an excited mind? You will be going with guides who know exactly what to do when an animal is around. S/he is trained in different ways so that they can keep you safe. During nature walks, you cannot go deep into the forests, however, several spots are meant for nature walks.
Bird Watching In Chitwan
Chitwan national park is the home of several local and migratory bird species. To a bird lover, this park is a wonderful bird-watching destination. Take a chance to witness a wide range of birds at the park. There are nearly 600 bird species found in the park.

Some of the common bird species that you can spot at the national park are the Giant Hornbill, Lesser Florican, and Paradise Flycatcher. There is a lake called Bis Hazari Tal. People say that birds come there to pick a single leaf that falls into the lake. In winter, several migratory species migrate here. There are bird species that migrate from Siberia to Nepal in winter.
Canoe Riding Across Rapti River
Canoe ride in Sauraha Chitwan is another name in the highlights of Chitwan National park. It is an adventure sport. Riding a canoe on the gentle rivers of Terai is an authentic experience. Conor riding is the best way to visit the scenery along the riverside.

Canoe riding is also available from Sauraha to Jagatpur. Jagatpur is a beautiful tourist destination at a distance of 18 kilometers from Sauraha.
There are two species of crocodiles found in the rivers in Chitwan. They are Marsha Mugger and Gharial Crocodiles. The river is their natural habitat. You can do nature walks for crocodile watching. Sometimes, you can also see genetic dolphins. Looking at the crocodiles sleeping peacefully on the river banks feels amazing.
The Gharial crocodile has a long snot. On the tip, it has a round shape. This shape looks like “Ghada”, the Nepali name for a round vessel. This is why it got the name “Gharial”. It eats small fish and other small aquatic animals inside the water.
The Marsha Magar has a really wide mouth and strong teeth. People say it can swallow a boar at once. It is violent. It hunts wild animals to fill the appetite.
Elephant Breeding Center
If you are in love with baby elephants, the elephant breeding center in Chitwan is a must-visit place. Elephants are graceful. At the elephant, you will see how elephants eat, what they eat, about their natural habitats and behaviors.
This Elephant breeding center was founded in 1985 with the motive of breeding the elephants to make them domestic. Also, this breeding center protects the Elephants. There is a small indoor museum where there are a few elephant bones, riding equipment, and lots of posters with information and facts about elephants.

Chitwan is the land of the Tharu people. Tharu is a beautiful ethnic group in Nepal. People say that Tharus were the only ethnic race inhabiting Chitwan until the 1950s. Tharu people have their way of life, traditions, and culture. They have beautiful traditional costumes and ornaments.
